Meet the CSU Channel Islands Simulation Team

Curtis:
In spring 2023 Curtis Hauck completed his undergraduate degree in Applied Physics with an emphasis in Technology. For the summer of 2023 he interned under the ATLAS Project at CERN and will be pursuing a PhD in electrical engineering at the University of Southern California. When he is away from academics, he is chasing an outdoor adventure.
Trent:
Trent Ruiz is a driven and passionate Applied Business/Business double major at CSU Channel Islands He is a SoCal Gas Fellow, founder of the renowned Cracking Math Podcast, and leads a pioneering project with NASA's Undergraduate Student Research Challenge. With plans to pursue a PhD, Trent showcases a passion for innovation.
Marisol:
Marisol Flores is a recent graduate of CSUCI, where she obtained a degree in Mathematics with an emphasis in Statistics. With a keen interest in data analysis and statistical modeling, Marisol is poised for a career in Data Analytics. Her solid foundation in mathematics, coupled with her passion for extracting insights from complex datasets, makes her a valuable asset in the field. With a practical and results-oriented approach, Marisol is prepared to tackle real-world challenges and drive data-informed decision-making.
Trenton:
Trenton Cooper, an aspiring actuarial scientist, recently graduated with a degree in Applied Mathematics. With a strong foundation in mathematical principles and analytical skills, his passion for applying mathematical concepts to solve real-world problems drives his ambition to pursue a career as an actuarial scientist. Trenton's dedication to continuous learning and his ability to think critically make him a promising professional in the realm of mathematical analysis and risk assessment.
Piolo:
Piolo graduated from CSU Channel Islands in the Spring of 2023 with his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry and is aiming to work as a clinical laboratory scientist. During the Summer of 2023, he focused on research pertaining to the effects of various microorganisms on the rates of corrosion. When not working on his academics, he spends a lot of his free time playing trading card games with his favorite being Magic the Gathering.
Joseph:
Joseph Martin, a dedicated Mathematics major at CSUCI is set to graduate in Spring 2024. With an insatiable curiosity and a passion for exploring the depths of mathematical concepts, Joseph is driven by a profound aspiration—to unravel the secrets hidden within nonlocal differential equations. With an eye for patterns and a tenacious spirit, Joseph embarks on a journey to uncover the enigmatic nature of these equations, pushing the boundaries of mathematical understanding.
Patrick:
Patrick McDonough Graduated from CSUCI cum laude last semester with a BS in Mathematics and Computer Science and program honors in Mathematics. He has been accepted to the MS in Mathematics program and plans to continue working in Dr. Flores's research group, with the goal of a thesis. In his free time, he sings with the Village Voices Chorale.
Isaac:
Isaac Cisneros is a driven student who is currently studying Computer Science/Mathematics and Cybersecurity. With a passion for both disciplines, Isaac has embarked on a journey to explore the exciting intersections between programming and mathematical problem-solving. Recently, he achieved an exceptional feat by scoring on the national Putnam exam, a prestigious mathematics competition that only a few math undergraduates ever accomplish. Isaac's remarkable achievement highlights his dedication, analytical prowess, and ability to tackle complex mathematical challenges.
Heydar:
